Francis Klein Machine Tools traces its roots to Francis Klein & Company, established in Kolkata in 1928. What began as a trading house entered the machine tool business in 1940 and has grown, across three generations of the Agrawal family, into one of India's most trusted names in precision manufacturing technology.
Since 2007, Francis Klein Machine Tools has been led by Mr. Anil Agrawal, under the guidance of Chairman & Mentor Mr. Ghanshyam Agrawal — overseeing advanced manufacturing and technology businesses built on long-term global collaborations.

Established
Francis Klein & Company was established in 1928 in Kolkata.
Entered Machine Tools
The company started activities in the machine tools business.
Acquired by the Agrawal Family
Acquired by the family of Late Mr. Gokul Chan Agrawal, who expanded market reach across government and private sectors and established a sales & service network with branches in major cities across India.
Leadership Transformation
Mr. Ghanshyam Agrawal, son of Mr. G.C. Agrawal, took over the leadership — a graduate in Industrial Engineering from NJIT, USA.
Expanding Horizons
Moved to Bangalore with the objective of transforming the business from trading into manufacturing units.
Rapid Growth & Reputation
Became one of the major suppliers of high-precision, state-of-the-art machines for automotive, aerospace, defence, railways and other precision industries. Mr. Ghanshyam Agrawal's vision to build a high-technology enterprise led to strategic collaborations with renowned German SMEs through the 1990s.
Nagel Special Machines
Nagel Special Machines Pvt. Ltd. — a joint venture with Nagel Maschinen-und Werkzeugfabrik GmbH, Germany — a leading supplier of precision honing, super-finishing and gun drilling machines for engine blocks, transmission gears, fuel injection systems, hydraulics and aerospace components. This vertical sits under Francis Klein & Co. Pvt. Ltd. and is led by Mr. Nikhil Agrawal.
Liebherr Partnership
Liebherr Machine Tools Pvt. Ltd. — a joint venture with Liebherr, Germany — bringing gear hobbing, gear shaping and gear grinding machines to Indian manufacturers.
Francis Klein Machine Tools
To handle the growing business and hand it to the next generation, an additional trading company was established — enabling the organisation to independently develop new products and business verticals. Francis Klein Machine Tools has since been led by Mr. Anil Agrawal, who has been responsible for all machine tool activities since 2006.
United Grinding India
A joint venture with United Grinding GmbH — a technology centre for precision grinding solutions and applications.
